Mike's High Speed Rail Assessment

The Fact Don't Add Up!

The definition of high speed rail is cutting thirteen minutes off the current rail travel time from Charlotte to Raleigh.

The current cost of the time savings, (government estimate), is $565,000,000.

Five lanes of traffic, inbound to Harrisburg will be reduced to three but DOT says the three lanes can handle it.

Nine of the oldest homes in Harrisburg are in the path of construction.

Ridership has never covered the cost of rail service from Charlotte to Raleigh and probably never will.

Any necessary subsidies necessary, for the next twenty years will be paid for and guaranteed by NC taxpayers.

Governor Perdue wants this project so another state doesn't get the $565,000,000.

Any cost overruns will be paid for by NC taxpayers.
